An integral part of the BCS education, athletics endeavors to
provide students with experiences that will help them mature
emotionally, mentally, socially and physically. Interscholastic teams
compete against the best ETIAC league teams as well as other
independent schools, and while BCS is committed to winning, emphasis is
placed on participation, effort, and having fun.
BCS also
offers a wide range of intramural sports and recreational activities to
ensure all students stay active and learn about the importance of
fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
The athletic facilities at BCS
are second-to-none among Canadian high schools. The H. Weir-Davis
Memorial Gymnasium contains two full-sized basketball courts, a 40-foot
climbing wall, and a complete fitness centre. Three international squash courts and
Canada’s oldest indoor hockey rink can also be found on campus. Outside
facilities include six sports fields, three tennis courts, a running
track, and several kilometers of wooded cross-country trails. Finally,
a university swimming pool and the local golf course are within walking
distance of campus.
