Student Life
Cadets
Formed in 1861 as the Volunteer Rifle Company, BCS Cadet Corps is the oldest continuous service corps in Canada. Today, we are proud of our reputation, and of the major role the Corps plays in the lives of students, school and community.

The program, compulsory for all students, is organized and run almost entirely by senior cadets. Instruction is given in skills such as first aid, outdoor education and service-type activities.

During the year cadets carry out and organize a number of service-orientated activities. They include participation in the School Bands, our literary magazine Inscape, the Round Square and Outreach programs, the environmental Green Group, Adventure Training, Community Services and the Yearbook. In May of each year, the Corps holds its Annual Review Parade where many parents and friends visit the campus and watch the students give a colourful and lively show.

The Mess Dinner took place on February 29 in our very own Dining Hall. Our special guest, Major Okill Stuart, made the crowd laugh and laughed himself as our NCOs and Officers proved to be very capable and gracious hosts. The evening consisted of a 3-course meal and traditional Mess Dinner rituals. Despite the uncertain look on many students' faces, they caught on quickly as the night was a great success. In the eyes of many, it was considered one of the highlights of this year.
