Essential conversations

Form V students had the opportunity to listen to BCS parent and champion of engagement, Quentin Condo today.

Quentin has been a role model in our community for many years and was invited today by our Form V History teachers to talk about the relations between Indigenous People and the Canadian government. Our Form V students have been studying about the history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada for a few weeks including the topic of the Oka Crisis.

Throughout the years, we have been lucky to have Quentin and his family share their experience and traditions with our community. In 2018, we hosted a Mi'kmaq Powwow with traditional dancing, music, and food—something we hope to carry on in the future. Thank you Quentin for continuing to share your voice to teach our students about the history, heritage, and reality of Indigenous Peoples.
