From spirited games to pumpkin fun and Halloween treats, this week was filled with excitement and activities!
Around Campus
With the last leaves falling, students participated in a campus-wide cleanup on Monday, raking leaves around their houses. In art class, Mr. Brandon’s students crafted miniature items, adding a unique touch to their creative portfolios. Grier North House also enjoyed a “Costco-themed” house dinner with a fun twist.
Crease Highlights
This past Saturday, the Ultimate Frisbee team played their final match, finishing proudly in second place in the league. Later in the week, we held our annual Students vs Staff Volleyball Tournament, where staff took home the trophy! Next Monday we will have our Students vs Staff Basketball Tournament—stay tuned to know who will take home the victory.
Halloween Festivities
Halloween brought a sweet surprise, with nearly two thousand candy grams delivered across campus! Students could purchase a candy gram with a personal note to send to friends, bringing joy one treat at a time. A Halloween costume contest was held during lunch and the prefects organized haunted tunnel tours after school. The Bigs & Littles Club hosted a pumpkin carving activity, and Smith House joined the fun with their own pumpkin carving time and roasted pumpkin seeds to eat.
House Captain Announcements
Each year, students who show leadership in their residence are chosen as House Captains and awarded a special tie. These student leaders help with daily routines, support houseparents, and organize activities, inspiring house spirit and building community among their housemates. On Monday, the captains of each house were announced, and they also received a special tie for their role. Head to Flickr for photos!
Scholar-in-Residence
We’re thrilled to welcome our fall Scholar-in-Residence, Georges Hernandez, a world music percussionist with extensive international experience, now based in Montreal. Mr. Hernandez is leading workshops with our community on Mondays from October 21 to November 25. His sessions focus on the history and origins of music from regions like Mexico, West Africa, and Egypt, and introduce techniques from both traditional and contemporary music forms. Students from Forms II-V will enjoy up to three full workshop periods with him, experiencing hands-on practice and performance. Mr. Hernandez will also offer meditation and jamming sessions during lunch for Forms VI-VII, and staff, adding an extra layer of cultural enrichment to our campus. Head to Flickr for a glimpse at Monday’s workshop with our Form II students!
