Triumphs on the ice

Our 16U/Prep Hockey Team has been accomplishing great things over the last few weeks. Here’s a brief recap of what they’ve been up to:

  • The team beat Stanstead College and took over the 1st place ranking in the U18 D1 RSEQ Metro Conference a few weeks ago.

  • In an emotional comeback at John Rennie, the tying goal came from the team’s youngest player, Lucas F. The game ended in a shootout.

  • They went to Atto Beaver Park’s outdoor rink (1km from BCS) for their own Outdoor Classic. This was also in preparation for their outdoor game against Lower Canada College, which was played at Miller Field in Montreal yesterday evening. The team walked away with a 5-4 win.

  • Since November Break, the team has a 16-2-4 record (wins-losses-overtime losses). Since their return from Winter Break, their record is 6-1-1.

  • The team has made it to the semi-finals of two RSEQ U18 D1 tournaments. (Only two loses out of their last twenty games!)

  • Thomas D. was named RSEQ All-Star.

  • Zachary “Zach” R. and Nathan B. were named 2008 Invitational Meltdown All-Stars.

  • Taitt D., Nathan B., and Nate O. were selected as QMJHL Q Cup All-Stars. Nathaniel “Nate” O. even ranked in the top 25!

  • Logan C., Timofey “Timka” W., and Dominic S. were nominated as PPHL All-Stars.

Reflecting on their accomplishments, Coach Hood adds that “the reason this is impressive is that many of our players are a year or two younger than their competition. We are fortunate to have exceptional leadership from our older players.”

Keep up the great work, Bears!
