Education today will determine the path of our world tomorrow.
A donation is an investment in the next generation of leaders—your support makes a difference.
Bishop’s College School was founded on the bold vision of those who imagined a school to educate and prepare the young minds that would shape the future. Since 1836, that driving force has fostered academic excellence, strength of character, leadership, and a strong sense of community throughout generations of BCS families.
It has always been our collective duty to prepare our students for success and today is no different. Now, more than ever, our collective future depends on the abilities and leadership of today’s most promising youth.
We must build upon our challenging, well-rounded, and nurturing program to give BCS students the tools to shape an ever-changing, increasingly connected, and demanding world.
The BCS Foundation is a registered charitable organization incorporated in the Province of Quebec and with the ability to provide tax receipts for qualifying donations in Canada and the United States.
A donation, irrespective of size, when pooled with the support of others, gives BCS the much-needed financial flexibility to consistently meet the needs of our students, respond to opportunities, and sustain a thriving school community for which we all can be proud. Donations provide scholarships and financial assistance, cutting-edge equipment, outstanding facilities, and funding for leadership programs like adventure expeditions and international tours. We invite parents, alumni, employees, and friends to show their support of BCS and donate annually.
A gift to the Highest Priority Fund supports BCS generally and gives the school the greatest flexibility. Your contribution is directed to where it will have the most immediate and strategic benefit. It includes the support of programs and the people who bring the programs to life.
Every day at BCS you can see the benefit of donations received. From upgrades in student residences to the support of student activities, every dollar adds to our capacity to give our students the best experience possible.
Donations may also be earmarked in support of an area of particular interest to you. When making your contribution, simply designate where you want your support to be directed, and the funding you are providing will readily be put to work for immediate and maximum impact.
The BCS Endowment is instrumental to our success and longevity. A strong and healthy endowment provides our school with the backing it needs to continue to provide our students with the best education possible, and this in perpetuity. Every dollar given to the BCS Endowment is invested and will grow. Every dollar given impacts our students and our school today, and it is also a gift that keeps on giving, for years to come.
At BCS, we believe our diverse student body is one of our greatest strengths and contributes to our success in developing global leaders of tomorrow. For this reason, BCS is proud of the support we provide to students of merit who could not otherwise afford a BCS education. Roughly 31% of our students receive scholarship or financial support. To be competitive among the elite private boarding schools in North America and to continue to attract the brightest we must increase our capacity to award scholarship and financial assistance.
A gift to the BCS Endowment is a contribution that is protected. It is permanent, donor-restricted capital that thanks to wise investment provides a steady stream of income and capital gains funds in support of the school’s mission and initiatives.
The BCS Endowment is overseen by the Investment Committee of the BCS Foundation. The BCS Endowment currently funds 46 named scholarships, two academic chairs, and provides over a million dollars annually to BCS.
When making your contribution, designate BCS endowment or contact Maxime Prieur to learn more about setting up a named scholarship or programs.
Every major step forward at BCS has been, and continues to be, funded by parents, alumni, and friends who make significant commitments to the school. Major gifts and capital campaigns fund large projects, including construction and renovation of buildings, purchases of equipment and capital assets, new endowments for scholarships and financial assistance, and other special projects. For more information on current and planned projects, contact Maxime Prieur.
Whether wishing to provide student financial aid, faculty support, investing in state-of-the-art facilities on campus or contributing more generally to the longevity and stability of Bishop’s College School, charitable giving is critical to the success of our mission. As you develop your estate plans, you can designate BCS as a beneficiary and as such have a tremendous impact on the school while meeting your estate planning goals.
Bequests: Making a gift to BCS in your will is the most common type of planned gift. You can give a specific sum or property or a percentage of your estate.
Life Insurance: A gift of life insurance is a simple and thoughtful way to make a gift to BCS. Insurance allows you to make a modest gift now for a significant gift in the future and premiums are tax deductible.
There are additional planned gift tools such as Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Trusts and Gifts of Residual Interest. For further information about supporting BCS with a planned gift, please contact Maxime Prieur. All inquires are received in confidence.
Whether you choose to give for a particular purpose or let the school decide on its best use, your gift is appreciated and plays an important part in our success. Contributions of all sizes are recognized in the annual Report on Giving and organized by the following giving level indicated to the right.
We also honour those who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership in volunteer support through membership in the Heneker Williams Society.
