A bunch of positivity
The Positive Change Committee held their first event today to raise funds for Phelps Helps.
This newly-founded seven-member strong committee aims to raise awareness and support for local organizations and charities through events and fundraisers. "The reason I formed the committee was because I wanted BCS to get more involved with the outside community as well as support different organizations," explains Emma A. "Our group's goal is to inform the BCS community about the issues these charities are trying to solve and provide information on how everyone can help." Under the guidance of advisors, Mr. Kieran McCormick and Mrs. Julie Lowry, the Positive Change Committee currently includes members Chaimber, Evan, Aglaée, Sara Sofia, Emma H., Olivia G., founder Emma A., ...and counting!
The committee put in place their first event today to help lock in donations for Phelps Helps, a local organization helping to fight school drop-out rates in Quebec. The organization provides educational and career support through individual programs, free of charge. To raise money for Phelps Helps, our committee organized a dress-down day and collected $2 for anyone who wanted to participate. With the end of the school year quickly approaching, the committee hopes to plan at least one more event before the end of the term and is actively looking to recruit new members. Interested in joining? Send an email to Mr. McCormick or Ms. Lowry to find out more information.
We are so proud of our students for coming together and being a part of this great initiative and making a positive difference!
