Academic Support Updates

Academic Support Updates

On February 11, the Academic Department proudly launched a new and improved student space: The DEN 2.0.

This holistic student support hub is designed to strengthen academic success and promote mental well-being through accessible resources and personalized guidance.

The space features a variety of dedicated areas that allow students to access the support they need. The furniture ranges from traditional work surfaces and desks to comfortable bean bag chairs. Available tools support both structured and flexible learning styles — from whiteboards and study desks to colouring pages and fidget toys that help students release excess energy and manage stress.

Sunlit classroom or study lounge with round tables, blue chairs, bookshelves, indoor plants, and a curved seating area with small tables and stools.

Lunchtime Programming

Currently, The DEN 2.0 offers lunchtime activities and strategy sessions (see image).

Monday Momentum

With Michael Bufo, Enrichment Centre Teacher, students can get organized, plan ahead, and set themselves up for a strong start to the week.

Study Smart Tuesday

With Shelley Gardner-Bray, M.Ed, our Learning Strategist and International Coordinator - Round Square, students can learn practical study strategies to work smarter, not harder, and strengthen their academic skills.

French Focus Wednesday

With Isabelle Giroux, French Teacher, Orthopedagogue and Pedagogical Academic Leader (PAL), our students can build confidence in French through guided practice, conversation, and targeted support.

Wellness Thursday

With Michael Ouellette, Social Work Technician and Learning Strategist at BCS, students can explore anxiety-management tools, develop healthy coping strategies, and recharge in a calm, supportive space.

Educators and Academic Counsellors working in both the Enrichment Centre and its new extension, The DEN 2.0, are available to provide academic support, time-management assistance, guidance counselling, tutoring, and more. Together, they are committed to cultivating a positive, nurturing space that warmly welcomes all members of the BCS community. Teachers and students may also reserve the space as an alternative learning environment — ideal for co-teaching, project presentations, collaborative work, and cozy study sessions. We look forward to sharing more about these exciting new developments in the coming weeks!
