An agri-able visit

Mr. Courchesne organized a virtual visit with The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau in his Form VI Global Politics class this morning.

A Member of Parliament for Compton-Stanstead since 2015, Minister Bibeau has held many different roles in the Canadian government over the years. In 2015 she was appointed as Minister of International Development and La Francophonie. She was one of the few people entrusted with the task of representing the Canadian government on an international level. In March 2019, Minister Bibeau became the first woman in Canadian history to be appointed the federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food. Once Minister Bibeau introduced herself, she opened the floor for questions from the class and lively discussion ensued.

This is not Minister Bibeau's first visit with our students. In 2017, we welcomed her and Minister of National Defence, Harjit Sajjan, for a Town Hall meeting with the members of the greater Lennoxville and Sherbrooke communities in our chapel. She also attended our 157th Annual Cadet Review and unveiling of Mitchell Family House in 2019.

Thank you to Mr. Courchense for organizing the visit and special thanks to Civix Canada, a non-partisan organization dedicated to engaging young Canadians, for giving our students the opportunity to connect with Minister Bibeau. We can't wait to welcome her again in the future!
