Aroche-moi un sourire

Following their reading of « Une bouteille dans la mer de Gaza » Mme Bélanger’s Form IV French class participated in an activity to share their reflections of the book.

The book follows the correspondence between two young adults from opposite ends of the world, who form a friendship during wartime. At the beginning of the book, the female character writes a letter in a bottle about her desire for peace and throws it into the sea. The bottle is then found by her soon-to-be friend across the world and the correspondence begins.

Inspired by Aroche-moi un sourire, students in Mme Bélanger’s class painted rocks with a positive message to connect with the main characters in the book, in the hope that someone will find their rock. The steps were as follows.

Step 1. Take a photo of your chosen rock (before painting) and explain your idea and inspiration in relation to the reading.

Step 2. Take a photo of your painted rock and explain your creative work process and the significance of the message.

Step 3. Take a photo of the location where you placed your rock and explain the meaning behind that chosen location.

Should you find a painted rock on campus, keep it or place it somewhere else on campus to brighten someone's day!
