Behind the Curtain: Inside This Year’s Musical
Every year, the BCS Players' Club brings students together to create something truly special on stage. This year’s musical highlights the creativity, talent, commitment, and teamwork behind one of BCS’s most exciting student productions.

The BCS Players’ Club is a student-led theatre group that produces a full-scale performance each year. This spring, they are proud to present The Addams Family: The Musical. It is a lively, comedic production that highlights the incredible dedication of our student performers and crew.
Performances will take place on campus on April 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. ET, and April 26 at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the BCS reception or the night of!

We also reached out to the Stage Manager and Scenic Designer of this year’s production, Thomas C., a Form VI student, to hear from his perspective!
Q: Can you introduce yourself and tell us a little about your role in this year’s musical?
A: I’m Thomas, a Form VI “BCS lifer,” and I’m the Stage Manager and Scenic Designer of this year’s musical.
Q: How did you first get involved in theatre at BCS?
A: I first got involved when I arrived in Form II. I participated in the play “60 Minutes or Less” as both an actor and a writer for my own scene. This was during the pandemic, so it came with challenges—we had to wear masks and keep our distance from the audience. After that, I took part in almost every play.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being part of a school production?
A: There is a massive sense of community with the production. You spend so much time together that you end up forming really close connections with the cast and crew.
Q: What has your experience with the BCS Players’ Club been like so far?
A: It’s a lot of work and requires a real collective effort, but it’s incredibly rewarding. Being in the BCS Players' Club also allows me to get real life skills like carpentry and painting—skills you wouldn't get anywhere else.
Q: One of the most impressive parts of this production is that the students made many of the props and costumes themselves. Can you tell us about that work and how it helped create the world of The Addams Family?
A: Many students took the lead on painting, prop-building, and other artistic elements. I led most of these with the help of the art consortium; Madame Claire and Miss McGie. The flats, umbrellas, paintings, and much of the stage were all student-made. This helps bring a piece of everyone into the play.
Q: How important is teamwork in this production?
A: Everyone needs to cooperate and teamwork is essential. Without the actors there is no show—without the tech crew there is no music, lighting or cues. Without the artists, there’s no set, and without the directors, we can’t bring it all together. Everyone plays a role, and it only works when we work together.
Q: What makes this show especially fun or unique for audiences?
A: It’s a classic story with characters everyone knows and loves—but it’s brought to life by your friends and family, which makes it even more special.
Q: What would you like to share with the BCS community ahead of the show?
A: Just a reminder of how much work has gone into this. The actors stay late and rehearse from home, and the tech crew and artists come in during their spare time. It’s truly a huge commitment from everyone involved.
