Black History Month

Throughout the month of February, our school observed Black History Month with a variety of engaging activities.

The commemoration began with a presentation during chapel by the prefects, who introduced the significance of this observance. This set the tone for the rest of the month, which was filled with informative and inspiring speeches by students about influential Black people. These speeches highlighted the many contributions that Black people have made in various fields and helped to deepen our understanding and appreciation of Black history and culture.

In addition to the speeches, Mme Simard incorporated the music of Black artists at the start and end of each chapel by playing songs suggested by members of our community. This lively and interactive addition to the program had our students singing and dancing along to their favourite tunes. The library also showcased books written by Black authors throughout the month, allowing students to dive into the rich history and culture of the Black community.

We hope that this Black History Month has been both memorable and impactful, inspiring our community to deepen their understanding of the myriad contributions and enduring influence of Black people on our society.
