This June we recognized our students who went above and beyond during their time at BCS.

We want to highlight just a handful of our senior students who won prestigious awards during our graduation ceremonies last month. Read more below about each award and the student(s) who were recognized.

Form VI Graduation:

The Jennifer Prosser Wade Award
Donated by Jennifer Prosser Wade to recognize a Form VI student who best exemplifies what Martin Luther King called “content of character” and stresses kindness, caring, and courage of one’s conviction.

The Ash Quaich Award
Donated by the family of Richard and Christopher Ash, who came to BCS on exchange in 1992 and 1996 respectively. It is awarded to the new students who have made the greatest contribution to school life in their first year at BCS.

Ce prix est remis au jeune homme dont l’attitude face au français comme langue d’apprentissage et de communication a servi à la communauté de BCS. Présenté chaque année en l’honneur de Monsieur Ron Owen, professeur de français à BCS de 1949 à 1983.

The Ondaatje Foundation Award
Donated by Christopher Ondaatje for the senior student who has done the most while at the school to encourage love of scholarship, either through personal attitude and achievement, or through assistance to others.

The Brendan Trower Tankard
Given by the Trower family in memory of Brendan Trower, BCS art teacher, 1975-1995. Awarded to the student who demonstrates the qualities of gentleness, modesty, and consideration for others – virtues that due to their subtlety can otherwise pass relatively unnoticed.

The D.A.G. Cruickshank Award
Donated by the faculty in recognition of David Cruickshank’s service to the school. The award goes to the student who in David’s words best exemplifies “Leadership through Service.”

The Winder Cup
Donated by Mrs. J.B. Winder in memory of her husband, Dr. J.B. Winder. Awarded to the student receiving three First Team Colours during one year, in either Form VI or Form VII, and having the highest academic average.
