Capturing a story

In February, Ms. Jones' Form IV English Language Arts class read a novel titled Monster by Walter Dean Myers.

Last week, her class took a creative approach to understand the novel by creating movie trailers. The short films had to be meaningful and link to an important theme or message from the story. Students took this opportunity to highlight their film production and acting skills—with a few taking a comedic approach.

The novel is about a 16-year-old boy who grows up in Harlem. The boy ends up being in the wrong place at the wrong time; this causes him to stand trial for the murder of a store clerk. The novel follows the main character throughout his trial.
