Carnivals around the world
The Chapel Club introduced our community to carnivals around the world throughout the month of February.
At the beginning of the month, Mr. Obermeir presented on the largest winter carnival in the world, which just happens to be held a hop and a skip away in Quebec City—Le Carnaval de Québec! Those who have had the opportunity to attend in the past know that this chilly outdoor festival is 'snow' much fun.
Another outdoor carnival, which is known as one of the biggest street parties on earth, Hannah presented on the Trinidad Carnival. This high-energy carnival is filled with parades and parties, and festival-goers typically wear fun colourful costumes.
Today was the last of the carnival presentations and Marina had us wishing we were dancing under the warm Brazilian summer sun at the Rio de Janeiro Carnival. The Brazilian carnival is so big that everyone usually gets a vacation from school and work to be able to attend.
Other than having a great time, all these carnivals share the most important goal in common—they bring people together with good food, great music, and cultural representation. Thank you to Hannah, Marina, and Mr. Obermeir for keeping the carnival spirit high with your presentations!
