Today on International Chess Day, we honour the two-person strategy game that has been a staple activity on Moulton Hill for years.

Chess is believed to have been invented in India and is one of the oldest board games in the world. Over the past year, the game of chess has become significantly more popular at BCS and globally.

Whether it was a quiet weekend day or the last free hours before lights out, our students were always perfecting their strategy and enjoying the game with a friend. Subsequently, our Chess Club grew in size and competitiveness as the members aspired to reach the top rankings. The club offered options to play to compete and practice for the tournaments and options to play for fun. The last BCS Chess Tournament was held in March and our students battled it out for a spot in the upper echelon.

As the Chess Club continues to grow in popularity and skills, our Student Activities Team hopes to keep the BCS tradition alive and expand the tournaments this coming year. Students—keep a lookout for a schedule from our Student Activities Team in the fall!
