Cultural celebration

Tomorrow is International Day, a student-led and -initiated event that is sure to become a beloved BCS tradition!

"Our aim is to celebrate each other's cultures and ethnicities,” shared the International Day Team. “Every student and staff member will get the chance to fully immerse themselves in every person's culture here without having to travel anywhere.”

In preparation for the event, we've already had presentations during chapel this week on the following countries: Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Jordan, Morocco, The Bahamas, Togo, and the USA during chapel. Today, during advisory meetings, students had the opportunity to reflect on their values and heritage by tracing their hand and listing five things they love most about their home country. This beautiful artwork is now displayed in the Student Centre.

Tomorrow, students and staff are encouraged to dress in traditional or colourful clothing that represents their culture. During lunch, the cafeteria will be serving foods from different countries. The main event will take place at 3:30 PM in the Quad, where students will set up booths displaying artifacts, flags, cultural snacks, and informational poster boards about their countries. And to top it all off, we'll have delicious salmon cooked in traditional Mi'kmaq fashion, which will be ready to eat in time for dinner.
