Defining DEI

Our senior students had their first workshop on DEI today.

Over the next few weeks, Thyannda Mack, expert on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and founder of Inclusive Resolutions LLC, will be conducting a series of workshops for staff, faculty, and students. With over 15+ years of experience in community engagement and programming, and as a parent of one of our very own students, Thyannda is looking forward to sharing her work with our community.

Today, our Form VI and VII students gathered in chapel for their first workshop on the topic of 'Exploring Your Identity.' The workshop focuses on how our identities impact our daily lives and relationships. "This interactive workshop helps participants understand their own experience, beliefs, and biases about their own identities through guided small group discussions, reflective exercises, and defining relevant concepts," Thyannda explained. Students listened intently throughout the session and had a chance to hold self-reflection discussions with a partner for the break-out activities. We are looking forward to the workshops following in the next few weeks that will focus on the topics of 'Our Identities and Our Interactions' and 'Navigating Differences.'

Please help us give a warm welcome to Thyannda Mack. Watch the video below for a short introduction from her and a word from our Head of School on this year's school theme.
