Don't miss a beat
Mr. Madsen's Form IV Science and Technology class dissected sheep hearts last week.
Throughout the lab, students were able "to see the path of the blood from systemic circulation entering the heart, going out to the lungs and back to the heart (pulmonary circulation), and then exiting to the rest of the body," explained Mr. Madsen. "They then identified the difference between the atrium and two ventricles, valves of the heart (and how they prevent blood from going backwards), and the ligaments."
Mr. Madsen teaches this lab to his Form IV students every year. He admitted that there are always a few squeamish students, but by the end of the class everyone is always fully involved, asking questions, and 'literally digging into the activity.'
