Happy Lunar New Year!
Our BCS community welcomed the Lunar New Year with a day full of colour, culture, and celebration. From an engaging presentation on traditions to festive activities and a special dumpling dinner, students and staff came together to mark the occasion in a meaningful and memorable way
Dumpling Making in Mitchell House
A few of our Chinese students' mothers arrived at Mitchell Family House to celebrate Lunar New Year in a very special way. With the help of students, they took over the kitchen to prepare a traditional dumpling dinner from scratch. Rolling, filling, and folding dumplings together, everyone learned family recipes and techniques, while the house filled with the delicious aroma of homemade cuisine. The experience was heartwarming and special, providing an authentic taste of home for Lunar New Year.

From red envelopes to Chinese zodiac signs, students had the chance to explore and appreciate the depth of the traditions, gaining insight into how families and communities celebrate this meaningful holiday.

Wearing Red for Luck
Our students and staff embraced the tradition of wearing red, filling the campus with energy and colour. The vibrant clothing reflected the joy of the occasion and the hope for good fortune in the year ahead.
Fireworks Celebration
The evening sky came alive with fireworks, creating a festive and magical atmosphere. Traditionally, fireworks are believed to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck for the new year, making them an important part of Lunar New Year celebrations. Watching the bursts of light together, the BCS community shared a moment of wonder and excitement that captured the spirit of the occasion.
