Keep calm and adventure on
Adventure Training is offered in the fall term to students who are seeking challenge and excitement, and who enjoy the outdoors and wilderness.
Participants learn a variety of valuable outdoor skills in a team environment. Core activities include building shelters, tying knots, cooking, hiking, fire building, wilderness safety and first aid, orienteering, trip planning, and more. At the end of the term, students take the skills they've developed and their sense of adventure to a nearby mountain for a two-night trip.
This year our Adventure Training group went to Mont Mégantic! A total of nine students and three coaches left Thursday morning and hiked with their clothes, food, and tents on their backs. They drank purified mountain stream water and cooked their own food on a campfire for each meal. "The last day we woke up early and hiked ten kilometres out across the caldera of the extinct volcano alongside a picturesque stream and river," shared Mr. Brandon. Despite the difficult terrain, all our adventurers had a great time and made memories to hold on to for forever.
