La vie en rose
Students put on a skit in chapel this morning as a creative way to educate their peers on how Pink Shirt Day started.
On the last Wednesday in February each year, students are encouraged to sport a pink shirt to stand up against bullying. This national campaign started in 2007 when two students from a small-town high school in Nova Scotia stood up for a classmate who was being bullied for wearing a pink shirt. The next day, the students organized a protest against bullying, inviting their classmates to wear pink shirts to show support for the student. This movement created a wave of support that is now popular in schools all over the world, and it showed how one small act of kindness can make an enormous impact. Our prefects recreated the scene in junior and senior chapel yesterday and this morning to remind students about the importance of the campaign.
We can't wait to see the wave of pink shirts throughout our campus tomorrow as students, staff, and faculty stand up for the cause. Make sure to wear your pink shirts with pride and keep an eye out on social media for photos!
