Lest we forget
Today we honour the lives of all soldiers who fought to protect our country.
We held a Remembrance Day Service with our students in St. Martin's Chapel on Friday, November 5, before our students left for November Break. The ceremony started with our choir's beautiful rendition of In Flanders Fields and was followed by the entrance of the colour party including Lt. Martin, Lt. Sacha, and Lt. Aaron. During the ceremony, Lt. Kaitlyn, Lt. Alexia, and Lt. Yasmin read the stories of the Old Boys and the band performed O Canada. Major Gavin and Captain Max then read off the names of each BCS community member who fell in WWI, WWII, and the Korean War, with a student sitting at each name. The list concluded with half of our community seated—a powerful moment. The service ended with a sentimental solo trumpet performance of Last Post by Evan, Form V, followed by a moment of silence. The colour party marched off and the band played Amazing Grace as our students exited the chapel.
The performance of the choir singing In Flanders Fields is on our YouTube channel and parents—head to GameOn to watch the full recording of the service in the chapel and Flickr for more photos.
