Love letters

Mme Turcotte took a meaningful approach to essay writing by assigning her Form V French as a Foreign Language class the task of crafting heartfelt love letters.

The assignment required them to write a sincere message to a person of their choice, such as a friend or parent, demonstrating their French progress throughout the year. Students submitted their first drafts, with Mme Turcotte reviewing and providing feedback. They were then instructed to make the necessary revisions in terms of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Mme Turcotte emphasized the importance of achieving a polished final version before writing the text in their card. To ensure accuracy, students were encouraged to use a dictionary and a Bescherelle—a French language grammar reference book.

At the end of the week, her class went down to the Supply Shop for stamps before mailing their cards.
