Our students are paw-some
Our students are collecting supplies and raising funds for a purr-fect cause.
After brainstorming ideas together during their advisor session, Elliot, Amos, Sky, and Iwo proposed the idea of raising funds and collecting blankets and towels for a local animal shelter to their advisor, Mr. Crowther. "All four of the students have dogs or cats at home, and love animals," explained Mr. Crowther. "The Pet Connection and the non-for-profit work they do inspired the students to want to help out." The Pet Connection has cats and dogs ranging from a few months old to several years old. They take in abandoned pets that would otherwise be euthanized by giving them the medical attention and love they need before finding their forever homes.
For the next week, students, staff, and faculty can drop off blankets and towels in the collection boxes located in the Student Centre, at centre stairs, and in the library—the shelter uses them as bedding for the animals in their care. With the help of Mr. Crowther, our students also organized a $2 dress-down day today with all profits going toward The Pet Connection. The donations will be delivered to the shelter next week.
