Reading is a novel idea

A special school field trip for some of our top readers took place today, organized by Mr. Crowther, our school librarian.

Mateo (Form II), Arabella (Form III), Aurélie (Form III), Clara (Form III), Emma A. (Form V), and Evan (Form V) tested their expertise today at the Battle of the Books hosted by Sacred Heart School of Montreal. Since 2013, Battle of the Books has been held each year for English high school students to test their knowledge of 12 assigned books. Our students have been voraciously reading for weeks to prepare for this competition. Detailed information on the event can be found on the Quebec School Librarians Network (QSLN) website. Mr. Crowther was ecstatic to take a group of six talented students to represent our school. The BCS Book Bears took first place in the first round of the competition and ended the day in third place after finishing the semi-final round. We couldn't be prouder of their teamwork and dedication that helped them get this far!

Pssst...The Peter G. Holt Memorial Library houses over 15,000 books and holds many events, such as the upcoming BCS Comic Con coming up on April 8, 2022. Stay tuned for more details about this annual event.
