Spring Crease: Finally Back Outside!
Spring Crease: Finally Back Outside!
Spring is in the air and campus just feels different. The snow’s gone, students are hanging out outside, and crease shifts gears in the best way.

We caught up with Athletics Coordinator Julie Massé, who helps organize the creases, to talk about what makes this season stand out.
“This is the season of crease that goes by super fast,” she says. “The vibe is fun.”
After a long winter indoors, Spring crease is about getting back outside. Students are out on the fields and at times, rugby practices move to Bishop’s University at Coulter Field, which is always a highlight.
While competitive sports are in full swing, Spring crease is designed for everyone. Students can take part in cardio and strength training or opt for more recreational activities like ultimate frisbee which is perfect for those who want to stay active without the pressure of competition.
There’s also no shortage of variety. Golf and badminton return for the season with badminton quickly becoming a favourite for its surprisingly competitive edge. For something a little different, students can even take part in horseback riding, under the guidance of certified instructors from Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley, in both the fall and spring.
And then there’s wiffle ball—a crease classic. Played with a plastic bat and ball, it’s less about serious competition and more about having fun. “A lot of hockey players will do wiffle ball,” Julie says. “It’s so fun to just watch them be goofs.”
Spring also means more games happening on campus. BCS hosts several rugby jamborees with other schools which brings a lot of energy and lively spirit to campus. A highlight so far has been the participation of our Senior Girls Rugby team in the fourth edition of the Flag Rugby Tournament hosted by the Volontaires du Cégep de Sherbrooke.
At its core, Spring crease is about more than just sport—it’s also about staying active and enjoying time together as a community.
As Julie puts it best: “It’s all about getting back outdoors and enjoying the fresh air.”
