The clock is ticking
After over a year of hard work and dedication, The BCS Players' Club is proud to present their production of 'The Clock Struck One' by Craig Sodaro to the community.
Originally intended for a live audience in the R. Lewis Evans Memorial Theatre, our cast members and production team did a full pivot, turning the play into a film production to follow health and safety protocols. Our students enjoyed learning about film acting versus the usual theatre-style acting and they particularly liked the opportunity of having multiple takes to perfect a scene. It also gave Form VII student, Vivienne, the opportunity to hone her filming and editing skills as she edited the production for a project for her Film Studies course.
Cast members had to work on their projection, enunciation, and movement to make sure the play translated well on camera. "It's more like film acting versus theatre acting," Liam (Nigel Grimm) expressed. "You have to be mindful of your body movements. They aren't as exaggerated." The production team also worked hard to adapt the performance to follow the current safety regulations. The difference was the social distancing and no touching. "There are a lot of couples in the play and we had to find new and creative ways to show affection," Hannah (Connie Girard) shared. It was also written into Phoebe's character (Essie Mason) to disinfect and encourage hand sanitization.
Ms. McGie and the entire cast and crew spent countless hours devoting their time to making the play a masterpiece that everyone was proud of. The play was finalized last week and they are incredibly excited and proud to finally be able to share the fruits of their labour with the entire community. Students will be able to enjoy the show on the big screen in the Student Centre on Saturday, May 8 at 6:00 PM in the Student Centre courtesy of the Student Life Activities Team. They'll even be treated to yummy refreshments!
