The legend of Zelda
Zelda is a 25-year-old horse (turning 26 on July 4) who belongs to Mrs. Marguerite Lévesque. She has been coming down to Senior Field with the Cadet Commanding Officer (CCO) since 2011 and this is her 9th and last inspection.
"Zelda is an exceptional horse in that she will do anything she is asked to do and happily. I only had to desensitize her to drums alone first, then the band and that was it. Canon? No problem. Not so keen on bagpipes though... and she does all this with a non-rider on her. I do have two students on foot flanking her for safety," shared Mrs. Lévesque. "At home, she is very quiet [but] when she is down here with the cadets, she's so happy and acts like a young thing!"
This year's CCO, Gavin L., will have the honour of riding her down to the field for the last time, as she shows off her stride and beauty. Thank you to Mrs. Lévesque and Zelda for nine wonderful years—Zelda will be greatly missed and we wish her a happy retirement.
