Triumphs in persuasion

Our students in Form II-V recently wrote and delivered persuasive speeches in their English classes. Alexandre P. was judged best in the junior category, while Rachel W. was the runner-up. Nathaniel O. and Aurélie M.-H. were both awarded first place in the senior category.

Alexandre and Nathaniel went on to proudly represent BCS at the QAIS Finals held at Lower Canada College in early April (pictured above).

This past week, Alexandre and Aurélie represented BCS in Lennoxville at the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) competition. Arabella M.-F. volunteered last minute to fill in for a cancelled speaker and delivered an inspiring speech on why voting is crucial. Her brave and confident presence at such short notice was truly commendable.

English Teacher Scott Kelso expressed his pride and admiration for the speakers, stating, "[w]ith speeches about such varied and thought-provoking topics as health care reform, accent discrimination, food safety, and the importance of voting, our speakers made us very proud."

Congratulations to all our talented student speakers!
