Our Form VII students met with Mr. Scott Duguay from Acadia University for a virtual visit in the chapel this morning.
Our University Advising team organized a visit with Mr. Duguay, Vice-Provost Students, Recruitment and Enrolment Manager from Acadia University, to speak to our Form VII students. "Mr. Duguay has worked at several institutions, helping students do well at university, and kindly agreed to share tips for our students regarding how to excel socially and academically in their first year," explained Mr. Robin Barton.
In the presentation, our soon-to-be graduates learned about the major differences between high school and university, six top tips towards success, and what to expect in their first term. The highlight of the presentation was the simultaneous gasp of our students when told how many hours should be spent studying per hour of class time—it's three!
With the school year coming to an end, and IB exams already in full swing, this will likely be the last university virtual visit until the next school year.
A huge thank you to Mr. Duguay for the visit this morning and special thanks to our University Advising team, Mr. Barton and Ms. Diana Gagné, for exposing our students to a variety of higher education options throughout the year.
