As you begin to prepare for your arrival at BCS, we would like to provide you with some helpful and necessary information about the many different aspects of school life. Scroll down to read through and don't hesitate to reach out to the Admissions Team if you have any questions or need any help.

For your child to legally study at BCS, they will need to receive both:

The Quebec Certificate of Acceptance (certificat d'acceptation du Québec (CAQ));
Canadian Study Permit

Step 1 - Financial Responsibility & Custodianship

Inform us (via email) which parent is taking financial responsibility. This will allow us to complete the CAQ forms.
Complete the Custodianship Declaration - Custodian for Minors Studying in Canada if student is 17 years or under at the time of application. Note that BCS provides the custodian for students.
Complete and return page 1 of the Custodianship Declaration - Custodian for Minors Studying in Canada; we will then have it notarized.
You will be required to notarize page 2 of the Custodianship Declaration - Custodian for Minors Studying in Canada and keep it to apply for the Canadian Study Permit once the CAQ is issued.
Please visit this link and create an Arrima account. Send us the username and password (login information) you have created so we can finalize the application by uploading the documents for you.

Step 2 - CAQ Application & Financial Proof

We will apply for the CAQ on your behalf. Once we complete the online CAQ application, we will send forms by email for you to sign and return.

Please provide us with clear copies of the following (some documents we may have on file):

Signed CAQ forms (you will receive these from BCS).
Clear copies of both parents’ and the student's passport pages showing photo and signature
Certified translation of birth certificate (to English), signed by a translator with seal. Include copy of original.
Mandat de representation (only available in French). This document gives us permission to represent you for the CAQ application.

- Declaration of Financial Support

There are different options for families to demonstrate showing ability to cover BCS tuition and fees. For details on these options, please visit this link.

Options include (more listed on the web link above):

Bank Statement
- Should cover a recent, 3-4 month period.
- Should show a minimum of $72,950 CAD in a personal account (a business account will not be accepted).
- The account holder’s name should be clearly listed and must be the person responsible for payments.

Bank Letter (showing ability to cover BCS tuition and fees):
- Must show the balance of the account
- For your reference, see bank letter template.

-or-

Recent Statement of Assets
- i.e., cash, investments, shares, units, bands, etc. (this is not listed on the website, but a CAQ representative shared this information).

Note that when applicable, documents will need to be translated to English by a certified translator, showing the seal and signature of translator. Remember to always include copies of the original version(s).

With the above documents, we will obtain the CAQ for your child.

Step 3 - CAQ Issued

Once the Quebec Government issues the CAQ, you will receive the following from us via email:

CAQ;
Official acceptance letter (you will need this for the Canadian Study Permit);
Page 1 of the notarized Custodianship Declaration - Custodian for Minors Studying in Canada;
Information on how to apply for the Canadian Study Permit.

Study Permit

The Canadian Study Permit is issued by the Government of Canada after obtaining your Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) for studies. For more information, see Obtaining a study permit from the Government of Canada.

Opening Week Schedule

Transportation

BCS provides buses to and from the Montreal-Trudeau Airport (YUL), the Dorval Shopping Centre, and downtown Montreal (Windsor Station) for school opening and all school holidays and breaks. Students will be charged per bus trip, each way (approximately $75). Click here for the 2023-24 schedule.

Student Life

Long Weekend Trips

BCS offers many trips that take place over long weekends. They are designed to offer an alternative place to go when residences are closed. The nature of the trips ranges from primarily tourist, to educational and adventure weekends.

All trips are chaperoned by BCS staff members and are designed to be of interest to the BCS student population. They are open to all BCS students, though some trips have limited spots for participants. The cost of all trips covers transportation, accommodation, food, supervision, and admissions/entry fees.

Communication with Houseparents

Each house is supervised by full-time houseparents—adult staff members who live in the house and whose primary responsibility at BCS is to ensure a safe, inclusive, and fun environment. Houseparents become cherished mentors whose impact lasts long after graduation.

Houseparents are a main point of contact and have regular contact with our families.
