Freedom of choice
Sep. 28, 2016 | Mr. Kelso and Mrs. Laramée’s Form V classes boarded a bus to Montreal this morning to see The Segal Centre’s production of “My Name is Asher Lev”.
Based on the 1972 book by Chaim Potok, the play tells the story of Asher Lev, an artistic prodigy growing up in 1950's Brooklyn, New York City. While his talents and enthusiasm are undeniable, his Hasidic Jewish community does not support his devotion to his art, and he is sadly forced to make a choice between his faith and his passion. No doubt this sparked lots of discussion amongst our students on the bus ride back to BCS!
