Creating cards with care

Nov. 17, 2016 | With less than two weeks before the month of December, the holidays are quickly approaching.

Our cadets program, however, has been in the holiday spirit for awhile now. For the past several weeks, our students have been creating hundreds of original Christmas cards, using recycled magazines, scissors, glue...and lots of imagination! These cards are intended for the Shoebox Project for Shelters, a charity that collects and distributes gifts in the form of shoeboxes to homeless or at-risk women in the area. Katherine P. Velan Bekins, BCS’86, founded the Montreal chapter in 2011 and continues to coordinate the service. On Saturday, six of our students will travel into Montreal to deliver the cards and gifts for this year's collection.
