S'arvo's Photo of the Day

Nov. 29, 2016 | Exchange student Grace de Chaneet gave an entertaining - and enlightening! - speech this morning about her native Australia.

Aptly titling her presentation “G’day! A Slice of ‘Straya for your Morno”, she debunked some common misconceptions about Australia and taught us the basics of Aussie slang. For example, did you know that “true blue” is a term used to designate a proud, genuine Australian? We also learned what “brekkie”, “trackie dacks”, and “prezzy” mean, along with a slew of other terms*. Grace has been here for roughly 12 weeks, and we’re going to miss her when she goes back to Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School in Western Australia during the Holiday Break. Tah, mate!
*For those wondering, they mean “breakfast”, “sweatpants”, and “present”, respectively.
