Jury duty

Feb. 10, 2017 | Form VII students spent today's Law class in a jury simulation.

New to the 2016-17 curriculum, Mr. St-Amant's Law elective was created due to popular demand and had two full classes register. Today's activity involved the case of a defendant who is on trial for burglary in Regina, SK. The students heard both the prosecution's and the defence's opening and closing statements, witness testimonials, and the testimony of the accused while Mr. St-Amant acted as the judge. The real-life jury simulation provided students with the opporutnity to better understand the role of the jury and the difficulties juries face in terms of reaching a verdict.
