This court is in session

Mar. 7, 2017 | Two of Mr. St-Amant’s Law classes ran real-life trial cases today in the Conference room.

As part of this year’s new Law course, Form VII students were given a specific case to painstakingly examine and analyze from every angle. They then had to assume the roles of lawyers or witnesses involved in their respective case. Both classes were given a 70-minute window to complete their trial and participate in an authentic court experience. The court heard both the Crown's and the defence’s opening and closing statements, witness testimonials, and the testimony of the accused, with Justice St-Amant and court clerk Ms. Rommens presiding over the proceedings. The two 12-person juries will watch the recorded trials tomorrow and, following the deliberation period, the verdicts will be announced on Thursday.
