Taking a stand for our environment – and our future!

Apr. 21, 2017 | While Earth day is officially tomorrow, we at BCS chose to observe it today.

Students and staff engaged in some small but still significant actions to raise awareness and inspire environmental consciousness throughout the year. Between the hours of 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM, the school participated in a “black out”, turning off all power sources where possible. No ovens, microwaves, mixers, warmers, steam tables, toasters, or coffee and juice machines were used during today’s lunch. Dining by the adequate light provided by the large windows in Ross Hall, our community enjoyed a full spread sandwich and salad bar. Rather than stacking dirty trays with leftovers, all diners were asked to clear their plates into the compost pails set up and manned by our prefects at the back exit. Thank you to everyone – especially our kitchen staff – for organizing and participating in this worthwhile initiative. Even in a dark setting, our BCS spirit lights the way!
