Sharing holiday traditions

Nov. 24, 2017 | Mr. Crowther and Mrs. Lowry invited everyone to share their Christmas or other holiday traditions this morning in Chapel.

With the holiday season just around the corner, Mr. Crowther described a time-honoured Newfoundland Christmas custom called “mummering” with us. The tradition requires groups of friends to dress in disguise and visit their neighbours. The hosts then have to guess their guests’ identity. He ended the amusing presentation by inviting any and all other holiday revellers to share their cherished customs and practices with the community over the coming weeks.
