Jan. 9, 2019 | The conference room was bustling with activity this morning.
Students in Mr. Hunt's morning advisor session started off their day on the right foot with a collaborative activity to promote empathy and communication. Students were given guidelines about how to arrange themselves and tasked with moving between the chairs without touching the ground. "It was an exercise in executive functioning and of overcoming our inhibition to help others," explained Mr. Hunt, who also heads up our R.D.W. Howson Enrichment Centre. "Students might know what they need to do to succeed, but everyone needs to be aware that helping and collaborating with others is the only way to achieve these personal goals."
Our advisor sessions don't often involve standing on chairs, but we love to see our faculty finding creative ways of engaging students!
