Having an ice day

Jan. 28, 2019 | The U18/Varsity Elite Hockey Team travelled to Stanstead on Friday to clinch a well-earned win!

Our students have always enjoyed a strong yet friendly rivalry with nearby Stanstead College. For our U18 team, this competitive spirit has fuelled some incredible hockey over the years, with many neck-and-neck games played at home, at Stanstead, throughout MPHL weekends, and during national tournaments. Despite a long run of close calls against the Spartans every season, our Bears came together on Friday to claim the win after a hard-fought game. "It was a pretty intense game, a lot of good back-and-forth," commented our Head Coach, Marco Pietroniro. Our boys came out firing and scored the first goal, but Stanstead tied up the game and went on to score a second time to pull ahead. It looked like another case of coming up just short when, with only a few minutes left in the third period, our team found the back of the net. This sent the game into overtime, allowing Olivier (#18) to take advantage of a power play and score the winning goal.

Congratulations to the team and to our dedicated coaches! Go Bears!
