Play by play

Feb. 22, 2019 | Our upper-form students spent yesterday afternoon in Granby for a unique theatrical experience.

Students in Forms IV through VII travelled to the Palace de Granby yesterday afternoon to experience the famous 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac. The trip was organized by the French department for students in Français, langue d'enseignement, as well as Français, langue seconde. Mme Mesnil said the play was chosen because of its cultural significance. "It's not an easy play, but it's an important piece of classical theatre," she expressed. "Our role as teachers is to expose students to material they might not be drawn to themselves." M. Robidas will be diving deeper into the world of Cyrano de Bergerac in the coming months as his class analyses the third act of the play.

Fun fact: this French play is responsible for introducing the word "panache" into the English language!
