Knowledge of narrative
Apr. 5, 2019 | Student storytellers shared their work in Ms. Jones' English as a Second Language class yesterday.
Form IV ESL students have been working since before March Break to write and illustrate their own short stories. The project began with students researching the structures and themes present in some of Ms. Jones' favourite children's books. The group then worked individually to craft their characters and flesh them out. With this as their story's foundation, the students spent this week bringing their characters to life. The only requirement was that their tale include irony and some unexpected twist. From stories of brokenhearted princesses to racing dragons, each narrative found its own personality, with many broaching difficult subjects.
