You are enough
Apr. 17, 2019 | Students and staff alike were inspired by motivational speaker Scott Fried.
This morning in chapel we welcomed Scott Fried, a New York City-based international award-winning speaker, HIV/AIDS educator, and author. He spoke to a rapt audience about his diagnosis with HIV, his struggle with self-doubt, and most of all his conviction about the individual worth of each one of us. Deftly balancing video game references and memes with hard-hitting truths about our culture, he encouraged students to build deep friendships—to find their "come here" people, as he put it—and to create a community of belonging.
Following the assembly, Scott met with English classes throughout the day to hear their stories and share his words of encouragement and self-love. "I like how you talk about loving yourself," Lauralie commented to Scott during a BCS Pride Alliance
meeting over lunch. "Most people make it sound cheesy, but you make it sound real and important."
Thank you to Mr. Kelso for his work in empowering today's real and important conversations, and thank you to Scott for sharing his story. Let's continue to make BCS a place that kindles a sense of belonging for everyone!
