Spray day

May 21, 2019 | Form IV Visual Arts students experimented with spray paint and stencils this morning.

The kiln room was busy this morning as Mr. Brandon's students experimented with stencils under the fume hood. After printing images found online, the class selectively removed parts of the image to create a stencil with depth and detail. One of the particularly challenging aspects was determining the best way to translate the image for stencilling using only two shades (painted and unpainted areas). Some created detailed animal portraits while others took on the challenge of the human face, representing celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Chris Rock, Billie Eilish, and others.

Mr. Brandon is always exposing students to a variety of techniques and tools to continuously inspire their creativity. Want more BCS student art in your life? Follow Mr. Brandon on Instagram!
