May 28, 2019 | Today's dress down day was an opportunity to show a little pride.
Every Friday, the BCS Pride Alliance joins together in Mr. Kelso's classroom to discuss issues related to gender equality, identity and expression, sexual orientation, relationships, and more. From fostering spirited discussions to inviting guest speakers to campus, this student group is always looking for ways to come together in support of the LGBT community. As we near the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, they organized a dress down day today, asking each house to wear a colour of the pride flag. Following a brief talk by Mr. Kelso about the symbolism of the different colours, students formed a pride flag in chapel.
The money collected from the dress down day will be donated to an LGBT-friendly organization which will be announced on our Instagram story in the coming weeks.
