Sep. 25, 2019 | The Adventure Training crease had its first off-campus excursion last weekend!
Twenty-one students, three teachers, and four local guides waded into the Saint-François River in Richmond on Saturday for a day of fluvial fun. Their three-hour excursion exposed them to the basics of nautical navigation while also giving them an opportunity to explore some of the Eastern Townships' natural beauty. With unseasonably warm temperatures during their excursion, many of the students enjoyed a quick swim partway through the trip after stopping on an island for lunch. The group's next adventure will be a trip up Mount Ham on October 5 as they build up their strength and preparedness in anticipation of a three-day hike on Mont Megantic later in the month. Many of the students will continue their adventures in the snow during Winter Adventure Training after the holidays.
Although the weekend adventure was the only water-based excursion planned for this semester, Mrs. Vanier hopes to build off the experience with a multi-day canoe and kayaking trip in the years to come.
