Prose before shows

Oct. 15, 2019 | Drama students performed sonnets in Ms. McGie's class this afternoon.

Iambic pentameter rang through the halls of the Student Centre basement today as the Form Vs acted out some Shakespearian sonnets. The unit is not only exposing students to a selection of famous works of poetry but is also allowing them to practice the fundamentals of theatre including delivery and characterization. Students were given the opportunity to research the sonnets and use the information to build a character around it with some reinterpreting the pieces in a modern context and others taking a more historical direction.

Students will be using the skills they've put into practice today on their upcoming productions as they tackle the challenge of performing 10-minute plays over the coming weeks.
