Bears on the air

Oct. 25, 2019 | Our new podcasting room shared its inaugural broadcast this morning!

The announcements in chapel had excellent sound quality this morning as our prefects introduced our newest space dedicated to young creators. In development for the past three months, the studio is located beside the control booth in the R. Lewis Evans Memorial Theatre with a window overlooking Hartland Molson Hall. The acoustically controlled space features four dynamic microphones along with a mixing board, modular lighting, and a dual monitor computer set up with a full suite of audio software. The room was originally inspired by a proposal from the Social Science Department as part of a Media Studies class that is under development. Mr. Rujoi, Mr. St-Amant, and the Buildings and Grounds crew worked through the summer to furnish, paint, and rewire the room in preparation for its big debut today. While the reveal took the community by surprise, there has already been an enthusiastic response from students expressing interest in using the room for school assignments, personal music recordings, and even rumours of a podcast club in the works. We can't wait to see what students create with this new resource!

Keep an eye on your inbox for an article and video about the podcast room in the upcoming BCS Broadcast.
