Hair today, gone tomorrow

Nov. 22, 2019 | Three students and one faculty member took a little off the top today for a good cause!

Building off the success of last year's head-shaving fundraiser, our prefects decided to bring the project back this year! As mentioned in yesterday's Photo of the Day, there are several initiatives taking place this month to support cancer research with the first head-shaving fundraiser taking place today. Izzy was the first to take up the challenge by going completely bald, opting to have her hair shaved by Cala, who also shaved her head during last year's event. Ximena cut off more than 10 inches of hair with the intention of donating it to Chai Lifeline Canada, a wig-making charity. Mr. Courchesne also went completely bald, and Lucas capped off the event, shaving part of his head before students returned to class. In addition to the head-shaving, many students also wore pink in honour of breast cancer awareness. Student and staff contributions during today's dress-down day bring the month's total to over $700, but our prefects are still counting today's addition. The shaving of heads will continue next week with Mr. Crowther and a few other brave souls losing their locks.
